History
Many organizations are formed out of necessity while others are formed to improve on current ones. The reason for the Asian Student Coalition's being is the latter. Despite some previous collaboration from clubs and organizations, clubs were still battling one another for membership. They would try to show supremacy by trying to take away from each other's membership. This is, however, not ideal for students. Students should be presented with as many opportunities as possible to enrich their experience at Stony Brook.
Speaking to one another during club meetings, student leaders found they had the same vision of clubs being able to seamlessly collaborate without red tape involved. Suggested by the then Editor-in-Chief of the Asian American E-Zine, the agreement between the presidents of Asian Students Alliance, Chinese Association at Stony Brook and Phillipine United Student Organization were unanimous. At least one member of each Asian student organization should meet once a week to keep each other updated on progress. Clubs will try their best to advertise the others' events and to collaborate on events best benefiting students.
About ASC
The goal of the Asian Student Coalition (ASC) is to achieve Unity, Cooperation, and Collaboration amongst the Asian and Asian American community at Stony Brook. Although we share common interests in our individual clubs, we hope to combine these interests with one another through further interaction. We hope to address issues in the Asian and Asian American community along with hosting collaborated events.
ASC serves as a collective entity between clubs and organizations. When you say ASC, do not think of it as its own organization. Rather, think of it as a collaboration between all the clubs that pride themselves in trying to unify different cultures to a common goal while keeping their own cultural identity.
Formed at the beginning of the Fall 2007 semester, ASC is a coalition consisting of e-board members from asian clubs. Clubs with current leader membership in ASC includes:

- Asian Students Alliance (ASA)
- Bengalis Unite
- Chinese Association at Stony Brook (CASB)
- China Blue
- Korean Student Association (KSA)
- Lion Dancing
- Phillipine United Student Organization (PUSO)
- Taiwanese Student Association (TSA)
- Thai Student Association (Thai SA)
- Vietnamese Student Association (VSA)
